March 2026 Newsletter
We have a busy March. First, our Caucus Meeting will be Tuesday, March 17th at 6pm at the UMWA building (525 E 100 S, Price, UT 84501 ). Then on March 28th at 3pm we will hold the Carbon County Democrat Convention. It will be held at Mont Harmon Middle School in Price. 60 W 400 N, Price, UT 84501 hope to see you all there. Additionally, Indivisible Carbon County will be holding a No Kings Rally that same day at the Courthouse in Price beginning at Noon.
So what is Caucus night? Simply put, this is the evening where we elect delegates to speak and vote for us at our county and state Democrat conventions. If that interests you, please come to our meeting on March 17th. It should be noted that the Caucus meeting is opened to anybody. Our caucus differs from the Republican Caucus that requires that you be a registered Republican to participate. For our caucus, you just have to be able to convince other attendees that you would be a good delegate for Carbon County? You can visit the Utah Democratic Party Website to find more information. This year's convention provides a unique opportunity to meet our candidates for County Commission, House District 67 and CD3. We have excellent candidates and feel that the tide is turning. Frustration over the current administrations dysfunctional policies are taking its toll. Moreover, after being told recently by a local Republican leader that we are wasting our time as Democrats in our county we have firmed up our resolve. That comment is so blatantly toned deaf in this environment.
We encourage you come meet our candidates, all of whom recognize that DOGE and the Big Beautiful Bill have done nothing but strand Carbon County on an island devoid of crucial federal support that has traditionally helped with infrastructure projects and social safety net reality including programs for mental health and rural health care needs. This last year has shown that both Republican State and Federal Representatives have no problem sacrificing our county's needs at the alter of austerity all while granting their donors huge tax breaks.
Meanwhile, Republican county, state and federal candidates begin to snipe at each other, accusing one another of lying and misrepresenting facts. How about if we quote one representative? Regarding the sole budget legislation passed in Congress she said, “We didn’t realize this cut was coming. And even though the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ passed in July, we didn’t realize all the ramifications that would come down on us as a state." How is this not laughable? How is this not irresponsible? Too many ill prepared candidates get in by virtue of them having an "R" behind their name. Democrats will take the House in the fall. Sending a new Republican to congress (the incumbent bailed for another district) seems ineffectual and strategically poor. We need a representative that will take their constitutional duties seriously and not abdicate their responsibility to a single person who simply took away the programs and initiatives that would help Carbon County. So come meet the individuals who will be the grown ups in the room. The choice is yours.
Regards,
The Executive Committee
